about the instructor
Laura Thompson has been making, showing, and teaching art for over 20 years. After leaving a 13 year career public school career, she spent 5 years in marketing and creative services, directing branding, graphic design, web design, and photography for a growing company.
In 2022, she decided it was time to take all of her experiences and passions to a new pursuit - full-time artist. Since then she has been investing her time and money into becoming a self-sustaining business, She is still learning everyday, and is motivated to share that knowledge with other artists who wish to earn a living from their art one day.
This path isn't the easiest choice, but it is made much easier with guidance by someone who understands the challenges and has made plenty of mistakes.
With her education background (mostly in middle school - she can literally teach ANYONE!), Laura takes complex topics and breaks them down into manageable parts, providing encouragement and support every step of the way.
Most importantly, she wants other artists to succeed because she believes that the more art that is in the world, the better the world will be.
