Ski Lodge 

Another Somerled Designs project client reached out to see if I could help them with a couple ski lodge themed murals. One was a simple 2 tone mural, and the other had an added challenge of camouflaging an air return vent. Luckily, I was up to the challenge.

The Frame Factory & Gallery is a Harrisonburg, Virginia business that has been around for over 40 years. The current owner asked me to paint a botanical style poppy mural on the bluestone wall in the work area that is also visible from the showroom floor. This mural is imbued with layers of meaning, ensuring the energy of the space radiate inclusivity and compassion for all human beings.

House 

I had been wanting to test this idea out for a while: creating a mural that was the wall version of my mixed media collage work. My friend Leigh was game - so we landed on a design and color palette that fit her living room, and I worked with MOD Designs to have my collage elements printed in large scale onto repositionable vinyl decal material. The result is even more awesome than I imagined!

Conference Room 

Blue Ridge Area Food Bank worked with At Ease Designs to update their space and create new graphics to tell their story. At Ease enhanced the conference room space with a stylized mountain mural utilizing the existing wall colors and needed hep bring it to life. In just two days, the room had a whole new look. One of the members of their team commented, “It took 30 years off the place.“

This short-term rental property in Elkton, Virginia features a detached garage that was converted into a 1920's speak easy style game room. The Somerled Design team created the overall vibe and one of the mural wall designs, while I added a stylized logo to cover another wall. Silver Lake Farm

Event Center 

Silver Lake Bed & Breakfast and Farm Event Center sits on a gorgeous property nestled in Dayton, Virginia. The Driver family takes great pride in their land and their history - the patriarch Lewis was born in the house that is now a B&B and worked in the dairy barn that is now a beautifully renovated event space. The only problem was the big blank wall that ruined the view - so we worked together to make it into something beautiful. 

HHS Commons Mosaic Mural  

Harrisonburg High School Fine Arts Academy students began a mosaic mural with another local artist, Beryl Solla, nearly 10 years ago. She worked with 3 different groups of students over the years, but sadly cancer took her life before the project was completed. I was asked to extend the design and bring the project to a close using a combination of mosaic tile and paint. With the help of some students, we did just that! 

THE WISH TREE @ THMS 

My first mixed media mural! Heather Kimberlain, a veteran teacher (and former colleague of mine) at Thomas Harrison Middle School here in Harrisonburg received a grant for a year-long school wide project based on the book "The Wish Tree" by Katherine Applegate. This mural was part of that, incorporating collage leaves created by all the students and staff at the school, turning an otherwise boring stairwell into a magical corridor.  

Blue Ridge @ Bryce Mountain 

Basye, VA is home to Bryce Mountain Resort, a popular vacation destination in here in the Shenandoah Valley. Having purchased this property as a rental home, the client worked with an interior design firm to create an overall aesthetic. I was hired to install this Blue Ridge Mountain in their game room and add a rich color palette and outdoorsy vibe to the space.  

Local Chop & Grill House

The Local Chop and Grill House is a farm-to-table fine dining establishment located in an historic brick building in Harrisonburg VA, complete with exposed brick walls on the interior. The owners asked if I could create a mural in the bar area to look like it had been there as long as the building had, and I was up for the challenge.  

Skyline drive @ Massanutten

Massanutten Mountain is home to a 4-season resort and is a popular getaway spot for folks in the region. This client purchased a cabin as a vacation home with the option to offer it as a rental through Airbnb. To set it apart from the other vacation rentals on the mountain, they reached out looking for a unique mural to add color to the living space, while bringing the local landscape indoors.  

Riner Rentals Conference room

Riner Rentals celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024. To commemorate the milestone, I was asked to create a mural that encapsulated what makes Harrisonburg-Rockingham County such a great place to live. Keys were an obvious choice, since Riner owns and manages over 1000 student and residential properties, providing many options for folks to call home.  

Pump24

24/7 Gym 

PUMP24 is a 24-hour fitness center that was just about to open in Harrisonburg VA when they contacted me. With a tight timeline, and a tough textured bay door as the canvas, they asked me to create a mural that would connect with the local community...and be a backdrop for gym selfies! In just ten days, we met, collaborated on the design, and finished this mural.

DoggIE Daycare

Located at 220 Waterman Drive in Harrisonburg, VA, Happy Hounds Doggie Daycare is my pup's favorite place to be. So when the owner saw the bulldog I painted on the MODdisplays mural, she reached out about creating a mural for her building without even knowing I was one of her clients.

Completed in February 2024, I was entrusted to design an interior mural that incorporated sugar skulls and alebrijes (fantastical and colorful creatures) to create an edgy yet festive ambience to complement the restaurant's fresh and unexpected twist on Mexican cuisine.
