This mural is painted on what was (many years ago) a functional piece of farm equipment - a manure pit. It sat unused for almost 15 years, during which time the nearby family homestead was renovated into the Silver Lake Bed & Breakfast and dairy barn converted to the Silver Lake Farm Event Center. This big white wall was an eye-sore and the property owner was eager to turn it into something more befitting of the surroundings. After a few conversations and sketches, we landed on a design that pays homage to Dayton VA and his childhood growing up on the farm and blends seamlessly into the landscape. The imagery stretches across 65 ft of wall that is 10 feet tall, and the grass and sky colors extend an addition 15-20 feet on either end.
Dayton retains its historic charm to this day, with the occasional clip-clop of horse drawn buggies passing by. Learn more about the Silver Lake Bed & Breakfast and Event Center here.
